The brief

A platform that was hard to justify, and a site that was hard to use.

Everglaze are a well-established windows, doors, and conservatories company based in Orrell, Wigan — serving homeowners across the North West with everything from double glazing and bi-fold doors to roof conversions, garage doors, and home extensions. They also manufacture their own products and supply to the trade.

When Liam from Everglaze came to me in 2023, the existing site was a Yell.com build — cluttered navigation, a red-and-white colour scheme that dated it immediately, and a layout that made it genuinely difficult for customers to find what they were looking for. The ongoing costs of the Yell.com platform were hard to justify for the return it was delivering.

The brief was clear: a new website that actually reflected the business, was easy for customers to use, and came with someone who would help keep it current as the business evolves. That last point mattered — Liam didn’t want another platform where getting anything changed was a problem.

The challenge

A wide product range to organise, plus specific functional asks.

Everglaze offers a wide range of products and services — windows, doors, conservatories, orangeries, bi-fold doors, aluminium, garage doors, roofline, roof conversions, and home extensions. Organising that range into a navigation that feels intuitive rather than overwhelming is the central challenge for any home-improvement business of this size.

The old Yell.com site had failed at exactly this — trying to surface everything at once and ending up with a navigation that confused rather than guided. The new site needed to be comprehensive without being cluttered, and commercial without being pushy.

There were also specific functional requirements beyond the standard build — integrating supplier brochures, embedding a finance application facility, and building a custom quote form that could route enquiries by product type. These aren’t features that come out of the box.

The solution

WordPress, navigation simplified, and a quote form built to fit.

If the navigation is the problem, the answer is not more menu items — it’s thinking like a customer.

The rebuilt Everglaze site launched on WordPress in 2023 — working within the existing Everglaze brand identity and building a structure that could grow with the business.

Navigation was simplified and restructured around how customers actually think about home improvement — by product category, clearly labelled, with nothing buried more than one level deep. The visual design reflected the quality of Everglaze’s products rather than the generic templated aesthetic of the Yell.com site.

Supplier brochures are integrated throughout — a mix of embedded and externally-linked resources giving customers access to detailed product information without leaving the site unnecessarily. The Ideal Finance facility was integrated via a dedicated page with an embed and direct link — making finance an easy, visible option rather than an afterthought.

The custom quote form at everglaze.co.uk was built specifically for how Everglaze’s enquiries actually work. Rather than a generic contact form, customers choose the product category — Windows, Doors, Orangery, Home Extension, Roof Conversion, Garage Doors, or Something Else — before providing their details. The result is enquiries that arrive already categorised, saving Liam and the team time on every single one. Enquiries have increased since the new form went live.

As Everglaze’s business has evolved, so has the site. Two significant additions have been made in the last six months — a dedicated Trade page for their supply-to-the-trade channel, and a Manufacturing page reflecting the fact that Everglaze now produce their own windows and products. These aren’t bolt-on additions — they’re pages built to the same standard as the original site, keeping the whole thing coherent as the business grows.

The result

A site that actually keeps up with the business.

Enquiries have increased since the new site launched — driven in part by the custom quote form making it easier for customers to get in touch with a specific request rather than a vague enquiry.

The site has continued to grow alongside the business — two new pages added in the last six months reflect real changes in what Everglaze offers. That’s what a website is supposed to do: keep up with the business it represents.
